Mohammad Ismail, head of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, stated that preparations to form a joint Kurdish delegation heading to Damascus are in their final stages. He indicated that an official announcement might be made soon, especially given the rapid developments on the Syrian scene and the existence of understandings with guarantor parties to overcome obstacles.

In an exclusive statement to ASO News Network, made on the sidelines of the forum organized by the Euphrates Center for Studies at Azadi Hall in Qamishlo/Al-Qamishli on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, under the title “Unity of the Kurdish Rank: Means of Strengthening and Future Prospects,” Ismail said that the first step has been achieved by unifying the Kurdish vision, and now the challenge is to maintain the cohesion of this agreement. He called for broad support from political and societal forces, particularly youth, emphasizing the importance of professional media coverage to accompany this transformation.

For his part, Khaled Ibrahim, a member of the Administrative Board of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration, said that this step and similar initiatives are very necessary “given the existence of a kind of rift among components of Kurdish society,” affirming that such community-driven initiatives contribute to real rapprochement between political elites and social segments.

He pointed out that the formation of the joint delegation is near, noting that ongoing discussions are taking place on the matter and that the disputes between Kurdish parties are not fundamental but rather minor details that do not affect the overall consensus. He added, “The train is now on the track,” referring to the launch of a new path with international support and growing community organization.

The forum was held nearly three weeks after the Kurdish Unity Conference between parties of the Autonomous Administration and the Kurdish National Council in Syria. Organizers aimed to open a community and academic discussion about mechanisms to strengthen the joint Kurdish vision, with participation from politicians, intellectuals, and legal experts from various sectors.
