Since the beginning of this week, the city of Raqqa and its countryside has witnessed dusty thunderstorms and heavy rain accompanied by hail.

Heavy rains led to the formation of torrential rains and floods, which caused varying damages in most towns, especially roads and agricultural lands.

Today, dust storms and floods have cut off the Raqqa-Al-Ruhayyat, and Al-Raqqa-Hasakah roads, and they are out of service.

Yasser al-Abid, from the village of Rahiyat, north of Raqqa, told Aso News Network that the flooding of the Balikh River and the rise in the water level led to the flooding of the village bridge and its out of service, until the water level drops,” he said.

He pointed out the need to form an emergency room for service committees in Raqqa, and to be ready for any emergency that may befall towns, roads or agricultural crops.

In a related context, the General Traffic Department announced the interruption of the Abyad road linking the cities of Raqqa and Hasakah due to the dust storm today, which caused a blocking of vision, and the Traffic Department called on drivers to exercise caution and not use the road until the storm subsides.

Most of the regions of North-East Syria have witnessed thunderstorms and heavy rains since the beginning of this week, which have caused torrential rains and floods, and caused great damage to people’s property, especially agricultural crops.
