Floods cause human and material damage in Kobani and Raqqa

Heavy rainfall, in areas in North-East Syria, led to human and material damage, as heavy and torrential rains in the city of Kobani washed away a number of cars and livestock in a number of villages in the city’s countryside.

Most of the villages affected by torrential rains and torrents in the countryside of Kobani are the villages of Tashlok, Minas, Ashkan, Shiran and Halang. It also led to the interruption of many main and secondary roads in the city and its countryside.

Heavy rains coincided with strong winds, causing significant damage to fruit trees.

Sources from the village of Tashlok, south of Kobani, reported that 25 people from the village were forced to climb onto the roofs of the houses after they were surrounded by torrential rain.

A number of civilian homes collapsed inside the affected villages.

In the city of Raqqa, torrential rain and strong winds caused the collapse of a number of walls in the city’s neighborhoods. The torrential rains caused the wall of a building in Al-Moataz Street to collapse in the city center. A woman was injured in the head, and she was immediately transferred to the National Hospital in the city.

The floods and rains resulted in damage to the livestock of civilians, and the death of a number of them.

No casualties were announced, and no accurate statistics were announced by the Autonomous Administration institutions about the extent of the damage.
