Today, Tuesday, several tourist offices in the Iraqi Kurdistan region announced the resumption of renewing and granting residency permits for Syrians in Hewler/Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, after a pause that lasted for more than a month.

Yazan Al-Fanar, one of the owners of tourism offices in Erbil, explained to ASO News Network, saying: We received a notification from the Residency Directorate in Erbil about the resumption of the work of renewing the residency of Syrians in Erbil after it had stopped for more than a month.

Fanar explained: They have begun receiving papers from people wishing to renew their residency at a cost estimated at $650 US dollars.

The decision so far includes residency holders in Iraqi Kurdistan, without any announcement whether it will include granting visas to Syrians wishing to travel to Hewler/Erbil.

The visas granted to Syrians who do not have residency in Kurdistan were issued after application, but this mechanism has not yet been included in the current decision.

The Ministry of Interior in the Kurdistan region of Iraq announced at the end of last May that it would stop granting visas to holders of Syrian nationality.
