The Autonomous Administration responds to news of the opening of the Awn Al-Dadat crossing between Manbij and Jarabulus
Officials in the Democratic Autonomous Administration told Aso News Network, on Saturday, that the Awn al-Dadat crossing between Jarabulus and Manbij is closed only from the Syrian opposition side.
In a comment in response to the Syrian opposition’s decision to start opening the Awn al-Dadat crossing, “Mohammad al-Abbo,” the co-chair of the Legislative Council in the Civil Administration in Manbij and its countryside, said that the crossing is not closed by the Democratic Autonomous Administration, but rather it was closed by the other side, i.e. from by the Syrian opposition.
On January 2, 2023, the opposition interim government announced, in an official statement posted on the websites of the interim government, the reopening of the Awn al-Dadat crossing between the cities of Manbij and Jarabulus, and its adoption as a humanitarian crossing for civilians, starting from the beginning of next February.
The statement indicated that the main reason for reopening the crossing is to combat smuggling between regions and prevent the exploitation of civilians.
Mohammad al-Abbo said that the other parties are the ones who are harassing the people, because of their continued closure of the crossings.
The armed factions and the pro-Turkish interim government had closed the Awn al-Dadat crossing since October 14, 2020.
