The people of the city of Darbasiyah resort to maintaining old heater stoves, due to the high prices of new ones, with their prices ranging from 400 thousand to more than one million Syrian pounds.

“Abu Hassan,” a resident of Darbasiyah, told Aso News Network, I had to repair old heaters instead of buying new ones, due to their high prices this year, and repairing two stoves cost me 100,000 Syrian pounds.

“Abu Ibrahim,” the owner of a heater stoves repair shop, told Aso News Network that people’s interest in repairing heaters has increased this year, despite the high prices of their spare parts, as it costs between 20 and 50 thousand Syrian pounds to repair a heater.

Pointing out that the demand for converting diesel heaters into wood-burning heaters has increased due to the scarcity and high cost of heating diesel.

Imad Asaad, owner of a store that sells heater stoves, attributes the reason for the high prices of heaters to the high exchange rate of the dollar relative to the Syrian pound, in addition to the taxes imposed on goods coming from Syrian government areas.

“Umm Abd” tells Aso News Network her experience in converting a diesel heater stove into a wood-burning stove through her personal efforts. She says: “I placed a tin grid on the stove’s box and lit it using firewood, because I do not have enough money to maintain it at repair shops.”

The prices of heater stoves installation supplies for this year range between 25 to 35 thousand liras per piece.
