Khalsa Farhan displays her goods of “second-hand clothes” on a small selling place(Basta) that she sewed and designed with her own hands, on the sidewalk in front of her house.

War conditions forced her to leave her home in the town of Zargan/Abu Rasin, and settle in Al-Darbasiyah for three years, and she earns her living from this work.

The fifty-year-old Khalsa is distinguished by her beautiful smile that adorns the features of her face, which is characterized by joy and contentment, despite all the difficult life circumstances she is going through.

Khalsa’s love for work and her desire to be an active member in her family pushed her to work selling used clothes with the help of her sons, who secure goods from stores in Al-Darbasiyah or Al-Hasakah.

Khalsa tells ASO News Network, “The people prefer to buy the clothes that I sell because they are cheaper compared to other second-hand clothing stores. I also do not like to sit idle and useless, as work is the essence of being human to me.”

Iman Ramadan, a woman from Al-Darbasiyah who is one of her customers who goes to her to buy what she needs for second-hand clothes, tells ASO News Network: “I buy from aunt Khalsa because the prices of her goods are reasonable, and she selects them well.”
