Fatima Said: We left our city “Serekaniye” to escape death and we dream of coming back again
“Fatima Said” never loses hope of returning to the city of Serekaniye / Ras al-Ain, where she was born, and her hope to return to the city is offset by the failure to accept the idea of forced displacement and their displacement to Amuda will continue for long.
“We escaped from death, we could not take our needs, we left everything behind, they tell us and threaten us that they will prevent us return to our land, homes and livelihoods!!” They are phrases repeated by “Fatima Said” from the city of Serekaniye / Ras al-Ain, who focuses on her saying, “We escaped with the dress we are wearing!”
“Fatima Said,” is displaced today in the city of Amuda, fled with her family during the Turkish aggression and the Syrian armed opposition factions on the city of Serekaniye on October 9, 2019, “I went out with my children and grandchildren, so we were not able to look at our house at the time.”
The condition of “Fatima Said” is like the other people of the city, who had no choice but to get out of the city otherwise the fate would be to remain under the mercy of targeting by raid and artillery shelling of Turkey on the city. Fatima says, “All of our personal papers, the documents of our properties remained in our city inside the house, so those papers are now in the hands of the occupier.”
The hope of return eliminates “Fatima” and her family, the difficulty of alienation and forced displacement, their displacement and their staying away from their homes and their reminiscences disturb their memory, so you see them and the residents dreaming of a return removing the past years tiring .
This is the second displacement of the people of the city of Serekaniye\ Ras al-Ain, where a large portion of the population was forced in late 2012 to be displaced after the armed Syrian opposition factions (the Free Syrian Army) entered the city at that time, and today the factions returned, but this time they are backed by the Turkish invasion, occupied the cities and looted livelihoods of Civilians and stole their property.
