Celebration of the sanctification of Mar Bassus and Mart Shushan Churches in Al Hakomiyah village in Derik countryside

HG Bishop “Mar Maurice Amseh”, Bishop of the Euphrates Archdiocese, celebrated the veneration of St. Bassous Church and Mart Shushan.

The celebration took place in the village of Al-Hakomiyah in the countryside of Derek / Al-Malikiyah, and a number of priests assisted it, in the presence of a group of people.

This celebration comes after a divine mass held by the Archbishop at Mart Shmoni Church in Derek on the occasion of the memorial feast of the saint herself.

In his sermon, the bishop spoke about the story of the saint and her seven sons.

In the Archbishop’s speech to the people and after the end of the masses and prayers, he talked about the importance of the people of the region adhering to their land, history and religious legacies.
Stressing not to abandon the spirit of love planted between us and from the various sects, being the children of one region and bringing us together a common history based on love and brotherhood.
