National Army factions assault and beat people in the countryside of Afrin to impose royalties on properties
Severe injuries and unconfirmed reports of deaths in Afrin
Aso – Afrin
A number of people from the village of “Kakhara” in Afrin countryside were injured today, Sunday, by factions of the Syrian National Army, and some of them were seriously injured, while there were reports of two deaths that had not been confirmed until the news was prepared.
Today, Sunday, factions of the Syrian National Army attacked a sit-in for the people of the village of “Kakhara” in Afrin countryside, most of whom were women and children, after the people went out with a sit-in denouncing the imposition of taxes by the Syrian National Army on the olive trees that belong to the original people of occupied Afrin.
A private source from the village of “Kakhara” told ASO News Network that the Syrian National Army, headed by the “Amshat Faction” led by (Mohammad Al-Jassem) nicknamed (Abu Amsha), imposed royalties estimated at 8 US dollars for each olive tree on the village residents.
Turkey and factions of the Syrian National Army have occupied Afrin since March 2018, and since the occupation and displacement of the indigenous population, they have imposed royalties and carried out violations against the remaining indigenous population in Afrin.
The source stated that the mechanism for imposing royalties does not depend on the remaining indigenous residents of the village. “The Syrian National Army imposes royalties on the lands of the displaced whose trees and lands remain in the hands of the remaining residents, and the factions of the Syrian National Army accuse the displaced that their lands belong to people affiliated with the Democratic Union Party and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.” “.
The pretext of affiliation with the Democratic Union Party and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is a mechanism by which the factions legitimize the acquisition of the lands and homes of displaced people, and it is a justification supported by Turkey as long as it is linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
Private sources told ASO News Network that a few days ago, the factions forced some people in the village of “Kakhara” to sign a paper that included agreeing to pay the royalty, which was classified under the tax category and was estimated at $8 for each olive tree.
The private sources reported that some of the villagers were forced to sign, but others refused to sign the tax payment paper. As a result, the residents (most of whom were women) staged a sit-in in the village on Sunday, which resulted in the Syrian National Army attacking the sit-ins and beating them. It resulted in injuries among the people, most of whom were women and children.
After the beatings and violations, the Syrian National Army factions surrounded the village and imposed a ban on people leaving the village, after withdrawing a large number of the villagers to points designated for the Syrian National Army, and cutting off the Internet from the village.
The sources reported that the beating included all the protesters, and that a large number of women and children among the protesters were subjected to severe beatings.
Our sources reported that in the evening the siege on the village was lifted, with entry and exit from the village prohibited, and added that Turkish intelligence, along with factions in the Syrian National Army and security branches, withdrew a large number of residents and took them to points belonging to the Syrian National Army, and presented documents to the residents to sign. It includes being forced to sign a tax payment paper.
A private source told ASO News Network that the Turkish factions and intelligence told the people that they were obligated to sign the paper, and that the tree tax decision would be implemented, and that the olive groves belonging to the displaced were considered lands for people affiliated with the Democratic Union Party and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. The sources also stated that whoever refuses to sign, Al-Mukhtar will impose a royalty payment.
Since its occupation by Turkey, Afrin has been subjected to violations, imposition of royalties, and seizure of property against the indigenous people remaining in Afrin and those displaced from it.
