A government source in the Drinking Water Directorate in the city of Al-Hasakah revealed to Aso News Network the efforts of the international organizations UNICEF and the Red Cross to restart Alouk water station in the western countryside of the Turkish-occupied city of Sere Kaniye/Ras al-Ain.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that UNICEF and the Red Cross entered the station yesterday, Friday, through Russian mediation.

It is not the first time that the issue of Alouk station has returned to the forefront. It was often agreed to restart it, but after a while the station, which is controlled by the Syrian National Army factions affiliated with Turkey, is stopped.
.
The process of stopping Alouk station affects the residents of the city of Al-Hasakah, who are suffering from a water crisis, one of the reasons for which is the repeated suspension of Alouk station.

The source added that the new initiative is to install special electric generators for the station, aiming to operate the station again and restore water pumping to Al-Hasakah and its countryside after it was cut off a year ago.

Pointing out that the date of operating the station depends on the required readiness and may not exceed 15 days, he said.

Alouk station is the only source of drinking water for the city of Hasakah and its countryside, while it is subject to constant interruptions despite repeated calls by international organizations for the parties to the conflict to neutralize the station.

Since September 2023, water has been cut off from Al-Hasakah when Turkey launched its attacks on vital locations of electricity and oil stations in the north.
