The mechanism of commercial exchange between the two regions, East of the Euphrates and the Euphrates Shield, has come into effect again.
The road between the Manbij Military Council and the Euphrates Shield areas controlled has crossed large quantities of fuel, while the Syrian government is regaining control of areas in Northern Syria.
On the evening of Monday, 9 March 2020, “Aoun Al-Dadat” and “Umm Jaloud” crossings witnessed the transit of trucks traveling from areas under the control of the Manbij Military Council towards the areas of the Euphrates Shield, coming from Al-Jazirah district.
Observers believe that the mechanism of trade exchange was stopped and returned again, and they return this to interference from the United States of America to exchange between the two regions, in conjunction with the restoration of the Syrian regime and Russia to areas in northern Syria and stopping the flow of materials and fuel to areas under the control of the Syrian opposition.

And the Turkish aggression on the East of the Euphrates caused fuel shortages in areas under the control of the Autonomous -Administration, and this caused the suffering of civilians in the Euphrates Shield area, in front of the exploitation of fuel dealers for the people, who stored large quantities of it to sell on the black market to an estimated price of 1000 Syrian pounds per liter.

A source in the Customs of Manbij told “Aso News Network” on how to transfer fuel to the regions as follows:
The operations of transferring hydrocarbons are not new, but they were stopped during the previous periods due to the conditions that were linked directly or indirectly to the region.
According to the source, the customs directorate in Manbij works within the Quartet committee, which was formed when the crossing between the two areas was reopened, and its duties are to monitor and fully customs the goods, and to prevent the entry of expired materials.

He continued, since the reopening of the two crossings, fuel is routinely moved between the two regions and includes “diesel and gasoline,” and in return food, basic and commercial items enter from the areas of the opposition and Euphrates Shield.

The source also stressed the difference in the quantity of fuel and materials exchanged through the crossings is according to the security situation of the crossings and the surrounding area, noting that the Umm Jaloud commercial crossing was targeted by missiles during the past two weeks, which caused the stopping of the commercial movement, and then the movement of the crossing returned again after the situation stabilized.

The area between East Euphrates and the Euphrates Shield is witnessing a tense linked to current events and political and military agreements in Syria.
