The city of Tapqqa witnesses blackouts, for more than eight hours a day, due to the unprecedented decline in the water level of the Euphrates River.

Democratic Autonomous-Administration accuses Turkey of being the cause of the lower Euphrates water level.

The rationing of electricity starts from six in the morning until two in the afternoon, in light of the high temperatures for more than 40 degrees in the afternoon hours in the city.

“Ammar al-Hajj”, the owner of a meat shop in the city of Tapqqa, was forced to buy a private electric generator to keep meat from being destroyed, as a result of coincidence of the rationing hours with the working hours in the markets.

While “Yasmin” lives in anxiety for fear that one of her children will get sick due to the high temperatures, accompanied by the interruption of electricity during peak hours.

“Yasmin” tells ASO News Network that the absence of subscription generators has made the situation more difficult, in light of the increasing hours of rationing.

Lewrens Al Jasim, co-head of the Electricity Directorate in Tapqqa, explains that the reason for the increase in hours of power outages is due to the decrease in the water supply to an insufficient level to generate electricity.

Also, it is not sufficient for agricultural irrigation or drinking water, indicating that this decrease in the level of river water threatens several risks that the region will face.

Turkey is working to reduce the amount of water level of the Euphrates, as a new weapon of its kind in the war on the regions of North East Syria.
