Afrin residents suffer from poor economic conditions and widespread unemployment among civilians due to the lack of job opportunities and the weak commercial movement in the city as a result of the crazy rise in prices with the depreciation of the Turkish lira and the faction’s militants stationed at trade barriers imposing large taxes on traders, which leads to high prices in the markets.

According to news received from Afrin to Aso News Network, which confirms that the city is going through a stifling economic crisis, as residents say that the main cause of this crisis is the looting, theft, and the imposition of taxes and royalties on the properties and crops of the people of the city by the militants of the National Army factions.

The sources revealed that there are many shops and laboratories, in addition to the real estate market and the shops of the industrial zone, which were forced to stop working because the shop did not obtain the necessary sufficiency from the work yield to meet the needs of the shops or laboratories.

Afrin residents noted that their agricultural crops are also no longer as they were, especially the olive season, where agricultural crops are exposed during their seasons to widespread looting and theft by militants and settlers, in addition to taxes and royalties, which often amount to a quarter of the annual crop.
