Afrin: A lawyer was kidnapped in front of his house… Two days later, he is returned dead

Lawyer “Luqman Hanan,” 45 years old, from the village of Haj Qasma in Maabatli district, lost his life on Thursday morning in the military hospital in Afrin.

“Luqman” was kidnapped two days ago in front of his house in Al-Mahmudiyah neighborhood by a military group affiliated with Turkish intelligence, and he was transferred to an unknown destination.

On Thursday morning, his family received a notification to receive his body from the military hospital in the city, claiming that he lost his life as a result of a health ailment in prison, as he suffers from chronic disc disease and not as a result of torture.

According to sources close to the lawyer’s family, “Luqman”, signs of torture were evident on his body, which were documented with photos and videos, and sent to the concerned international organizations and institutions.

And those sources revealed that the reason for the kidnapping was slander by one of the settlers after the lawyer “Luqman” refused to grant him an apartment in the residential building, which is still under construction, as he was accused of dealing with the Autonomous Administration previously.

According to the sources, the forensic medical report in the military hospital was forged by the medical team assigned to supervise the body of lawyer “Luqman”, as the report stated that the cause of death was natural and that there were no signs of torture on it.

The murdered lawyer, “Luqman Hanan,” had been kidnapped earlier in 2020 and forced at that time to pay a large financial ransom in exchange for his release.
