Because of the lack of diesel… Families in Aleppo break household furniture to burn it and get heating
A large number of families in the neighborhoods of Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo resorted to breaking some of their wooden household furniture in order to burn it and obtain heating, after the delay in the distribution of diesel fuel, while others were forced to break furniture because they were unable to buy firewood after the price of a ton reached more than 2.200 000 million Syrian pounds. Most of the firewood in the market is damp and does not burn easily.
The correspondent of Aso News Network in Aleppo said that some families have wooden home furniture, and because of the extreme cold, they broke it to keep warm on it, and some of them burned old clothes, cartons, and baggage to keep warm.
He added that, since previous years, in the absence of diesel fuel and the high cost of firewood, people have searched for alternatives for heating, so they are forced to break some household furniture or used clothes, cartons, and baggage.
“Hussein Omar,” a resident of al-Ashrafiyeh neighborhood, told Aso News Network that the current winter season was warm at the beginning, but during this period the cold increased, and although we received diesel fuel, it ran out, so we break some of the furniture in the house to burn it and get heating.
Hussein Omar broke the sofas in his house to warm his family, and stated that his sons collected some cartons and baggage to burn them.
“Zahra Sino,” a resident of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, told Aso News Network, “We had to break our household furniture in order to keep warm, and if we did not do that, the children would get sick and we would be forced to buy medicine and fuel oil to keep them warm.”
She added, I had a worn-out wooden wardrobe, three wooden chairs, and some old worn-out clothes, so I put them with the items that I will burn in the fireplace, and indicated that she has not yet received the diesel and cannot buy it because its price is expensive, especially since she will have to buy diesel for 50 thousand. that’s a lot of money for them.
The residents of the Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods are facing very dire conditions during the current winter due to the lack of diesel fuel for distribution, the high cost of firewood for heating, and the failure of a large number of families to receive allocations of fuel oil for heating.
