Thefts during the residence of the people in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh in streets due to the occurrence of earthquakes

Cases of thefts have been repeated continuously in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods over the past few days, due to the people evacuating their homes during the frequent aftershocks.

People go to empty parks and squares, and many of them leave the doors of their homes open or unlocked, which allows theft to occur.

The correspondent of Aso News Network in Aleppo said that a large number of theft cases were recorded during the earthquake and aftershocks, and some families lost gas cylinders and household and electrical appliances from their homes.

He added that some families did not return to their homes because they stayed in the gardens and halls and did not move to new homes, and some of them spend their time with their relatives in the ground houses.

Rezan Sheikh Abdul Rahman, a resident of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, told Aso News Network, my house was robbed after the earthquake that occurred on the sixth of February, as all people went down to the streets. I didn’t expect the theft happens but I was shocked that my gas cylinder, heater and wash machine.

He added, the thieves vandalized the house’s belongings and searched for gold and money in the bedroom, and I submitted a report that my house had been robbed.

And he indicated that the homes of his neighbors in the same building were robbed, expressing his dissatisfaction, saying that it is shameful what is happening, especially that people are afraid and took to the streets and stayed in the gardens and halls, so that the thieves take advantage of the current situation to commit their thefts.

“Abu Jiwan,” a grocery owner in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, told Aso News Network that a few days ago a young man was arrested trying to steal a gas cylinder from a house in the neighborhood, and another young man was trying to break the lock of a house to enter it to steal it, as the Asayish patrol was notified. He was arrested immediately after some of the people caught him red-handed.
Despite the Asayish conducting patrols in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods to maintain security and stability, the cases of theft crimes have become high and are constantly increasing, as the lack of residents in homes is exploited.
