Schools reopened in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, after a month of closing
Schools in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo have reopened to students after a one-month hiatus, in order to complete the second semester.
The opening of the schools came after they were emptied of the people who were temporarily residing in them as a result of the earthquake that struck the area on the sixth of February.
The correspondent of Aso News Network, in Aleppo, said that a technical committee affiliated with the People’s Municipality inspected the schools to ensure their safety and that they were not damaged or cracks occurred in the classrooms.
A small number of students came to schools after they opened.
Ahmed Khaled, a teacher at Ashrafiyeh School, told Aso News Network, “It is necessary to complete the second semester, especially since there are only about two and a half months left until it ends.”
He added that the parents left the schools and the situation has become stable and there is no need for the schools to remain closed, and he indicated that there was an absence of students on the first day of school, but after two days most of them joined the school.
Ismahan Alo, a ninth-grade student, told Aso News Network that she is facing the examinations of the basic stage (ninth grade), and that the opening of schools and the return of school hours are good in order to continue education and succeed in exams.
Schools and mosques were emptied from the people who had taken them as temporary residences to protect them from earthquakes earlier, and as soon as the schools were emptied, the students returned to their studies last Sunday.
