A tragic reality… Nine water stations in Tabqa are out of work
Tabqa city is facing a tragic situation after nine water stations on the banks of the Euphrates Lake went out of service, affecting the provision of potable water for about 50,000 people.
The reason for the stations out of work is due to a sharp drop in the level of the Euphrates River, as Turkey deliberately reduces the quantities of water allocated to Syria and Iraq across the river.
According to “Hammoud al-Sheikh,” the joint head of al-Tabqa Water Unit, the reason for the stations’ outages is due to the sharp drop in the Euphrates water level.
Hammoud Al-Sheikh says that the alternative solution is to replace the horizontal stations with vertical ones to supply the area with drinking water.
Many experts, technicians, and humanitarian organizations have warned of a catastrophe in Norh-East Syria, where the Euphrates River passes, as the decline in the water level may lead to water and electricity cuts for millions of residents and increase the suffering of the people amid a severe economic collapse.
