The price of chicken in NES has increased in an unprecedented way
The regions of NES are witnessing an unprecedented rise in the prices of chicken, in light of the poor purchasing power of the people, as the price of one kilo of chicken has reached 25 thousand Syrian pounds, according to the owners of the chicken shops in the region.
Abd al-Salam Abdo, a resident of Amuda, told Aso News Network that he could buy chicken once a week, but now he can only buy it once a month, because of the “exorbitantly high prices,” as he described it.
“Abdo” suggests that the people boycott the purchase of chickens for a period of two weeks, which will lead to and decrease in its price after the accumulation of poultry in the markets, according to his opinion.
“Fatima Ali” said that her family consists of 5 members and depends on her husband’s salary, which he receives in Syrian pounds, so the price of chicken exceeds their ability to buy, and she does not buy chicken sometimes for more than a month and a half.
In this regard, Yassin Othman, the owner of a chicken shop in Amuda, explained that the reason for the high price is due to the high exchange rate of the dollar and the lack of supply control over merchants, adding that merchants manipulate prices without deterrence.
Othman pointed to the availability of local and imported chickens, and with the availability of poultry in good quantities, its price should not exceed 17,000 Syrian pounds.
The regions of NES are witnessing an unprecedented rise in the prices of all foodstuffs and consumer goods due to the high exchange rate of one dollar to about 14,000 Syrian pounds.
