Last Monday, income transfer companies reduced the internal transfer ceiling to one million Syrian pounds.

Private sources from one of the internal transfer companies told Aso News Network that reducing the transfer ceiling is a means to limit transfers through the Syrian Central Bank and the dollar exchange rate for transfers, which is estimated at 13,225 Syrian pounds.

Our private source shows that holders of external remittances resort to transferring through exchange offices, to benefit from the difference in the exchange rate of the US dollar, and then transferring it to other regions, such as Aleppo and Damascus, in Syrian pounds.

The same source explains that before the transfer ceiling was reduced, companies could transfer amounts equivalent to approximately $350, but after it was reduced, they could no longer transfer more than approximately $80.

Private sources in the Central Bank of Syria said: The process of reducing the ceiling on internal transfers by transfer companies contributes to some extent to controlling the exchange rate of the US dollar.
