An official leader in the SDF denied circulating reports of a recent escape by ISIS leaders.

The responsible leader confirmed to ASO News Network that reports of the organization’s leaders escaping from any prison under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces in northern and eastern Syria are “untrue.”

Syrian media had circulated news attributed to Iraqi media sites, stating that the Popular Mobilization Forces had deployed extensively along the Syrian-Iraqi border, west of Anbar Governorate, to prevent the infiltration of ISIS members, after reports of the escape of a number of leaders and members of the organization from a Syrian prison.

The media outlets that reported the news did not mention the name of the Syrian prison from which the “ISIS leaders” escaped, explaining that the source did not mention it.

These means relied on an Iraqi media source, who in turn attributed the news to a security source, without specifying his identity or place of work, as the source quoted him as saying, “The fugitives, according to the information available to the security leaders, are considered among the most prominent leaders of ISIS terrorists, and arrest and detention orders have been issued against them.” Among them were those who were sentenced to death for committing the most heinous killings and bombings during their control over large areas of Anbar’s cities.” The source did not mention the name of the prison or its location.

The Popular Mobilization Forces arrived at the Syrian-Iraqi border, for the first time after the terrorist organization took control, in May 2017, to prevent the infiltration of elements into and out of Iraq, followed by the construction of an iron wall in June 2018, equipped with surveillance devices, along 600 km of the Iraqi-Syrian border.

It is not known exactly from which Syrian prison the “wanted leaders of the organization” escaped, according to what Syrian media reported from Al-Iraqiya.
