The director of the Swediye Gas station, Akid Abdel Majeed, said in a special statement to ASO News Network that the operation of the gas production station is imminent, without specifying the actual time period for operation.

He stated that the remaining work to maintain the station has been completed and that the workshops are working on preparing production.

The factory was damaged as a result of the Turkish bombing of the area at the beginning of this year.

Since the Turkish attacks on the regions of North-East Syria, in mid-January 2024, the Autonomous Administration announced that the Sweydiye gas station and oil and electrical facilities were out of service.

Abdel Majeed said that from that date until today, “we have been working to complete the required work, with the aim of operating the gas plant.”

Abdel Majeed spoke about the effects of the destruction that occurred at the station, which was reflected in the lack of gas production, which resulted in a gas crisis in the region.

He added that the process of repairing the production plant is going through difficulties due to the lack of personnel and materials, and the extent of the real destruction, which requires great capabilities, as he described it.

Aso News Network was able to obtain special information regarding the gas production plant. One of the station workers, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that one turbine had already been installed for the gas production plant. He said that the modern combined turbine operates with the power of three old turbines.

While the director of the gas plant, Akid Abdel Majeed, did not specify the exact date of operation of the plant, he indicated that they had completed a lot of maintenance work, and the rest would be completed soon and not long ago, he said.

Abdel Majeed noted that the price of a gas cylinder is currently sold for $10, and that, according to him, is because it is imported. He stressed that when the plant is operated and production is approved, gas will be available at an acceptable price, better than the current one, and will reach all segments of society.
