Al-Hasakah: One person was killed and others injured as a result of a gunfight

One person was killed and 7 others were injured, yesterday evening, Sunday, as a result of a fight with weapons and bombs in the Al-Nashwa Al-Gharbiyya neighborhood, south of Al-Hasakah city.

Local sources from Al-Nashwa neighborhood reported to ASO News Network that at exactly eleven o’clock at night, a fight broke out between the Al-Mashhour and Al-Awain families from Al-Bu Hamdan clan in the neighborhood, in which machine guns and hand grenades were used.

According to the father of the murdered young man, Ahmed Khalaf Al-Awain, gunmen from the “Al-Mashhour family” attacked the house of his son Faris against the backdrop of a personal dispute between the two families in a wedding hall.

He pointed out that the attackers threw two hand grenades, as a result of which his son Faris, 37 years old and father of four children, died and 7 people present at the scene were injured and were taken to hospitals in Al-Hasakah.

A medical source at the People’s Hospital in Hasakah confirmed to ASO News Network that one of the victims had died before arriving at the hospital, while 7 people had varying injuries.

According to the doctors supervising the condition of the injured, the conditions of 3 of them were in critical condition and they were placed in intensive care, and a number of them were discharged after receiving the necessary treatment.

A security source also confirmed that a security cordon had been imposed on the scene of the incident to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

This painful incident highlights the disastrous consequences that can result from personal disputes when they escalate into the use of violence.
