The city of Qamishlo / Al-Qamishli has been witnessing a severe fuel crisis for several days, as long lines of cars lined up in front of gas stations waiting for their turn to supply gasoline and diesel, amid complaints from drivers that the quantities were running out quickly.

One of the drivers told ASO News Network that he had been unable to fill his car’s fuel allotment since the recent Turkish escalation in the region, while another reported that the quantities available at the stations were not sufficient and were running out before his turn arrived, forcing him to return the next day.

The Fuel Directorate of the Autonomous Administration explained to ASO News Network that the cause of the crisis was due to the Turkish bombing that targeted vital installations in the region, including oil wells and fuel production sites, stressing that it is making unremitting efforts to address the shortage and repair faults to restore production as soon as possible.

In light of this situation, drivers are forced to resort to the black market, where the price of a liter of gasoline has reached 8,000 Syrian pounds, while the price of a liter of diesel ranges between 5,000 and 6,000 Syrian pounds.
