Syrian Oil Ministry announces signing of preliminary contract to import gas from North-East Syria

The public relations officer at the Syrian Oil Ministry, Ahmed Suleiman, told Arabesque Radio that the ministry signed a preliminary contract with a party in Eastern Syria, according to him, to import natural gas, which is used to generate electricity in thermal power plants.
Regarding the quantity, Suleiman explained that the imported quantities change according to production and need, with the possibility of increasing them later.
He pointed out that increasing the allocations of fuel coming from the region contributes to improving the electricity supply.
The Autonomous Administration did not announce the existence of any official agreement regarding the import of gas, and the responsible authorities did not respond to ASO News Network’s communications to clarify whether these statements were accurate or not.
The Autonomous Administration manages the oil and gas wells in North-East Syria in their entirety, and the Oil Authority is the body directly responsible for managing them.
At the same time, the dialogues between North-East Syria and the new Syrian government are still ongoing, but at an unclear pace, as the content of the dialogues and discussions has not been revealed, except that they are proceeding in a positive manner according to the statements of both parties.
