Rehabilitation of the Old al Raqqa bridge and its main artery
The reconstruction l Committee in Raqqa is working to rehabilitate the old bridge known as al Mansour Bridge since 19-6-2018.
The first phase of the rehabilitation of this bridge began with the removal of its destroyed ruins and cement blocks and took ten days of work.
Abdelrahman Mohamed El Hassan, supervisor of the bridge rehabilitation project told Aso news network “on July 1, 2018 the reconstruction of the bridge was started and then the bases of the bridge were established. In addition, to landfill under the bridge with big cement blocks to make a water base”
“There is a great difficulty in traveling along the banks of the Euphrates River, and there is also a danger to vehicles and people who passes with the hand made metal boats, so if they break down ,” he said. It leads to sinking and losing their lives.”
He also appealed to the civil council in Raqqa to speed up the process of rehabilitation of the bridge because the bridge is the artery of the city of Al-Raqqa, who works on the neighborhoods of the area of Al Kasrat and the southern Shamia line.
It’s worth mentioning that the old and new bridges were destroyed during the battle of Raqqa with ISIS by the international coalition forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces in the early summer of 2017.
