Facing Corona: T-Marbouta Team Follows Awareness Campaigns in Al-Hol Camp
In an effort to spread information about the Coronavirus and its efforts to prevent it, T-Marbouta Foundation launched, on Saturday, 11 April, a campaign to educate residents in Al-Hol camp about the virus, in cooperation with the Free Women Standing Team.
Both T-Marbouta team and the Free Women Stopping Team toured within the first sector in Al-Hol camp, taking all preventive measures from wearing masks and gloves and carrying out awareness sessions for each family in order to prevent gathering, to preserve social separation, and to leave the distance between people during discussions and transfer of information.
The team targeted (24) families from (7) separate communes in the sector.
The team paid attention to the detailed explanation of the targeted families about the virus, its symptoms and methods of prevention for each family in their tent or in front of their tent.
Precautionary and preventive measures such as social separation, non-contact or mixing, hygiene and hand washing were emphasized, and emphasis was placed on the necessity for each family to follow with a focus on the role of women in these procedures to maintain the safety of their families and thus public safety.
It became evident during the campaign and during the discussions that there is a disparity in the levels of knowledge about the virus, so the families had many inquiries, ambiguities and misconceptions about its spread, and they do not have enough information about it, and some of them also do not know how to prevent, and there were those who believed that the virus was transmitted through the air, and from them Whoever thinks that it does not infect them but rather infects only “infidels”, while some did not know about the virus the slightest piece of information, and do not care to know anything about it.
For its part, the team answered all these questions and misconceptions and refuted them, and explained in detail everything related to this epidemic.
The team distributed literature bearing illustrations to support the information they had discussed with the families they visited.
On the other hand, several families complained about the neglect of some of the neighboring families living in the camp, regarding hygiene priorities and attention to safety measures, as well as the lack of preventive supplies such as masks and sterilizers to ward off the threat of the virus.
It is noteworthy that this campaign coincided with the distribution of protective supplies that included (protective masks, gloves and sterilizers), with the aim of helping families to practice safety procedures and alternatives were discussed in the camp to obtain protection, and the importance of washing hands with clean water was well discussed with soap, and indicating the possibility Manufacture of respirators from recycling of available fabrics.
It is noteworthy that the awareness program of the Corona virus and ways to prevent it for families living in Al-Hol refugee camp, including the displaced and refugees, continues for a period of two months from today, to be distributed once every week, in order to target the largest possible number of families inside the camp.
The camp residents welcomed the gesture made by T.Marbouta and thanked the information and preventive materials that were distributed to each family in the face of the Corona virus.
