An unprecedented rise in sheep prices in the markets of Deir AL-Zour
The press reporter of Aso news network in the Deir AL-Zour
countryside said that the selling prices of sheep increased in an unprecedented way in the region.
The reporter said that this rise, according to the people’s description, is due to the smuggling of livestock outside the self- Administration areas of northern and eastern Syria.
The price of a single sheep increased to 400 thousand Syrian pounds, after it was previously 250 thousand SP.
Higher prices for sheep have led to higher prices for meat and dairy products.
“Ahmed al Olayan,” a butcher from the region, said that the reason for the high prices of sheep in the market because of smuggling operations led to higher prices for meat.
He added, the price per kilo increased from 8,000 to 10,000 SP.
Olayan called on the concerned authorities to stop smuggling sheep outside the areas of self-administration.
