The increase in transport fares is an additional burden on the people of the city of Al Derbasiyah, in light of the successive crises that have caused the collapse of the living situation in North-East Syria.

Transport fares began to rise about twenty days ago, when more than two hundred Syrian pounds were added to the transportation fares between Al Derbasiyah and other cities.

ASO News Network correspondent in Al Derbasiyah monitored the opinions of some residents of the city about the high costs of transportation and its impact on them.

Bahia Sabry, a forty-year-old woman, was forced to go to the city of Hasakeh, and cost her more than 3,000 Syrian pounds.

Bahia says that the price of transport fares is constantly changing and rising, except for the increase in transportation fares within the city.

While, “Rashid Khalil” complains of poor service in transport vehicles, as the quality of most of them is outdated, which causes them to delay for long hours until the arrival time, and this negatively affects patients traveling between cities to receive treatment.

Drivers justify higher transport fares, by subjecting their cars to frequent breakdowns and the high price of spare parts.

Where “Fayez Reso” a driver working on the line connecting the cities of Al-Derbasiyah and Al-Hasakeh explains that poor road conditions cause frequent and major breakdowns of their cars, in addition to the high prices of spare parts with the high exchange rate of the dollar.

“Reso” indicates that the price per wheel reached $ 80, except for the high prices for changing oil and diesel refineries and others.

For his part, “Raed Ali,” the assistant director of transport in Al-Derbasiyah, explained that the instability of transportation fees is due to the failure to issue a general law for transportation that requires determining fares.

“Ali” added that the current wages were determined by agreement between the drivers of public cars and not by an official decision of the Public Transport Corporation in the Autonomous Administration.

And the fares of transportation between the city of Al Derbasiyah and Al Hasakeh amount to one thousand Syrian pounds, and to Qamishlo /Al Qamishli to 800 Syrian pounds, and to Amuda 500 Syrian pounds, while the transportation fares within the city reaches 1000 Syrian pounds.
