Many farmers in Al-Shaddadi district (60 km south of Hasakah) resort to using solar energy to extract water from wells and irrigate their crops, due to the many breakdowns of generators and the high cost of repairing their faults.

“Saeed al-Khalaf” from the village of Abdan in the countryside of al-Shaddadi told the Aso News Network that he had previously suffered from repeated malfunctions of the generator, which were caused by the poor quality of diesel.

“Al-Khalaf” added that he had intended to leave farming and pursue another job, especially after the high prices of spare parts that were incurring many expenses, he said.

He points out that he decided to use solar panels after their use became popular in the region.
He states that he uses these panels for the second season in a row and has not encountered any malfunctions, indicating that he turns them on half an hour after sunrise and turns them off before sunset.

Meanwhile, “Ismail Al-Dandal,” a farmer from the village of Abdan in the countryside of Al-Shaddadi, says that his installation of solar panels saved him oil, the expenses of repairing faults and engine oil, which cost him 100,000 Syrian pounds per month.

“Al-Dandal” indicates that the panels no longer generate electricity with the onset of winter and cloudy weather, due to the lack of sunlight and the shorter hours of the day, which forced him to plant fewer quantities of the winter crop, unlike the summer crops, he said.

In turn, “Fouad Khalouf”, a dealer of solar panels, told the Aso News Network that the demand for solar panels is very large, and they are used for homes as well as by professionals in their work, pointing out that the greatest demand for their purchase is by farmers for their agricultural projects. .

“Khalouf” explains that each of these panels generates an ampere and a quarter of an ampere, and the price of one panel is $ 75 (equivalent to 180,000 SP).
